seaworthy kids lunch: mayflower sandwich

It’s time for Thanksgiving … and an edible history lesson! The Pilgrims sailed from England to America on a ship called the Mayflower, under the guidance of one Christopher Jones. The Pilgrims were on the ship for two months and underwent many storms at sea, but they finally reached land and settled in Massachusetts. There they met the Wamponoag Indians, who helped show them how to plant crops and hunt. The first Thanksgiving took place after their first harvest. (You might leave out the part that half the Pilgrims died the first winter.) Make this whimsical Mayflower sandwich and teach your kids about Thanksgiving, then ask them what they’re thankful for!
