Today’s recipe is one of my favorite combinations! When I was first contacted by Eggo, I knew that I wanted to create my favorite grilled cheese, but using waffles instead of bread. I was extremely pleased that the waffle complimented all of the flavors wonderfully! This gourmet grilled cheese has the delightful combo of sweet and savory!!
grilled pear havarti balsamic waffle
It’s so freaking delicious!!
You could use apples and cheddar cheese as well.
Or gouda/goat cheese instead of havarti.
- 2 Eggo Homestyle Waffles
- 2 slices havarti cheese (gouda)
- 1 pear (thinly sliced)
- 3 Tbs aged balsamic vinegar
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- Toast waffles as directed on the package. Drizzle olive oil on a hot skillet. Place one waffle into the hot skillet. Layer a slice of cheese and pears on top of waffle. Drizzle balsamic on top of pears. Lay last slice of cheese on top of pears. Place waffle on top of cheese. Use a large spatula, or sauce pan, to firmly press the sandwich down for even browning, and for the cheese and pears to adhere together. Once browned to your desired liking, flip and firmly press the sandwich down with the spatula. Once browned evening on both sides, pull out of pan and serve hot.
