Christmas Theme on a Budget: Paper Christmas Trees

Trying to create a winter wonderland, on a budget, for my new Christmas theme, brought me to the infamous Dollar Store.  I adore the Dollar Store.  Seriously.

As I was browsing for inspiration, I saw these wonderful plastic megaphones in the toy section.
Christmas Theme on a Budget: Paper Christmas TreesHello, shape of a christmas tree! I purchased a few, and then went back and purchased a few more!!

Let ‘creating on the cheap’ begin!!!

You’ll need:
Plastic megaphone. Hot glue gun. Glue sticks. Blank paper. Permanent marker.

STEP 1: Polka Dot

Christmas Theme on a Budget: Creating Paper TreesI even got the permanent marker at the Dollar Store!!
Use your marker and put dots all over the blank paper. I doubled up on the paper and only had to dot 3 sets due to the ink bleeding through.  I liked the variations between the bright dots and the faded ones.

STEP 2: Rip, Fold and Glue

Glue folded paper pieces to plastic megaphone. For the top of the tree, you’ll want to fold the paper loosely around the top of the megaphone, to mask the lipped edge, and create the top of the tree.

Step 3: Enjoy

This one was created by ripping pages out of an unwanted book.  It may or may not have cuss words on it.  My girls noticed…oops.  I didn’t realize it until they said something!!

Try glueing different materials to the cheap megaphones to create the look you want!!
