The end of school is just around the corner, and you know what that means: summer camp! And what’s one thing you think of when you think of summer camp (other than campfire songs, s’mores, and mosquitoes)? Canoes! It just seems a particular right of passage that kids should don life jackets and set out in a mini-armada of canoes so they can … what? I don’t know. But I remember how much fun it was to be out on the open water, and peaceful, too. When you combine the fun of canoeing with another summertime staple — grilling — you get the kind of fun meal that’ll inspire all sorts of camp stories!

With three daughters, I’m completely lost when it comes to boys and their toys, but I do know there probably isn’t a boy out there who wouldn’t love a four-wheeler. My nephews have a bubblegum pink (yes, pink) four-wheeler — and they love it! When I was out to visit them last year, they took me for a ride. It was scary putting my life into the hands of a seven and nine year old, but I have to admit, I had a blast! This breakfast is for everyone out there with a sense of adventure (regardless the age).

Sharks terrify me, but they always seem to be a hit with kids. They just love them! I don’t know why — maybe it’s their sheer strength or their massive amounts of teeth. It’s certainly not because they’re cuddly! What I do know is that I’m a few months early for “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel, but I just couldn’t help making a yummy shark that you could sink your teeth into … instead of it taking a bite out of you!

I still can’t believe I’ve made snacks for Nickelodeon Parents Connect to be posted every weekday for the month of March!! It has really stretched my ability, creativity and made me realize that I have been lazy the last few years!! It’s true!! Football. Besides turkey, it’s what men think about when you mention Thanksgiving. My husband is no exception. I needed some inspiration this week, so I asked him what he thought I should make in relation to Thanksgiving. He told me either a football or a football helmet. Why didn’t I think of that? Oh yeah, because I’m a woman with three daughters — football isn’t even on my radar! I scoured through pictures of helmets and came up with this snacky replica. So, in honor of my husband and all of you Thanksgiving football families out there, this one’s for you!

There’s something very homey about seeing a truck going down the road with a Christmas tree sticking out of the back. I just love that it lets me know that Christmas is right around the corner!!
