Springy Kids Lunch: Chickadee Quesadilla

Ah, spring has finally sprung — the bunnies are hopping, the daffodils are blooming, and the stores are wall-to-wall with Easter candy. You may have trouble convincing you kids that there aren’t just three major food groups this time of year (chocolate, jelly beans and Peeps), but here’s a fun way to get their noses out of their Easter baskets — an adorable (and cheesy, but in a good way) chickadee quesadilla served peeping hot.

St. Patrick’s Day: Leprechaun Hat

Leprechauns, shamrocks, pots of gold, rainbows, something about the Irish and all that green lucky stuff makes up St. Patrick’s Day!  The only thing I ever did as a kid to celebrat was wear green because I didn’t want to get pinched.  Now I just make sure my girls are wearing green!!  I hated getting pinched.  Seems so cruel.  Whether you send your little one to school wearing green or not, having a warm leprechaun hat croissant waiting for them when they get home will definitely make them feel like the luckiest kid!!

Fun New Year’s Kids Lunch: Baby Dragon Sandwich

The new year is upon us. According to the Chinese calendar, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, which represents success and happiness. Now, of course the Chinese new year doesn’t begin until the middle of January, but there’s no reason not to celebrate now with this adorable New Year’s baby dragon sandwich. My girls aren’t exactly fans of dragons, but even they couldn’t resist this little guy!

Holiday Kids Snack: S’more Elf Hat

Now that it’s getting colder, my girls are all about s’mores and hot cocoa. So I came up with this festive kids snack as a way for them to have both without the sticky mess of roasting marshmallows (not to mention the dangers of everyone crowding around an open fire!) For the sheer delight of your little ones — and big ones — serve the elf hat croissants warm with a mug of hot cocoa. My hubby ate quite a few of these, too!

Fun Kids Lunch: Snowman Sandwich

Yippee! Winter’s almost here, and this snowman will bring some excitement to your kids lunch. I love snow—donning mittens, building a snowman, then coming inside for hot cocoa and a snack. We don’t have snow here in the south yet, so for now, my kids and I are contenting ourselves with this yummy snowman sandwich.

FOOTBALL SNACK: PB&J FOOTBALL HELMET

Football. Besides turkey, it’s what men think about when you mention Thanksgiving. My husband is no exception. I needed some inspiration this week, so I asked him what he thought I should make in relation to Thanksgiving. He told me either a football or a football helmet. Why didn’t I think of that? Oh yeah, because I’m a woman with three daughters — football isn’t even on my radar! I scoured through pictures of helmets and came up with this snacky replica. So, in honor of my husband and all of you Thanksgiving football families out there, this one’s for you!
