FEATURE: Penguins

Stacy, over at Kids Stuff World, submitted these adorable penguins from Moutain Pulse.

~~~~
PENGUINS
~ Boiled Eggs ~ Baby Carrots ~ Olives ~
Directions:
1. Hard boil the eggs. Drain, set aside to cool then peel.
2. BODY: Cut a small slice off the wide end of each egg. (Cut the slice so that the penguin can stand up on its own.).
3. FLIPPERS: Slice three olives in quarters lengthwise. Cut a small slit down each side of the”body” of an egg and insert one olive piece on each side.
4. CHEST: Cut approximately 1/2″ sliver of black olive lengthwise. Make a tiny slit down the middle of the hard boiled egg and carefully insert the olive sliver.
5. HEAD: Place one toothpick down the center of the top (narrow end) of each hard boiled egg. Attach the whole olive with the hole in the center of the penguin’s face.
6. NOSE: cut six small triangular pieces of carrot or bell pepper-large enough so that it will fit snugly in the olive hole and not fall out. Place the carrot or bell pepper piece in the olive hole.
7. To serve, arrange the soon-to-be endangered penguins on an irregularly shaped piece of styrofoam.
Funny Kid Food: Cold Season
My brother-in-law decided to make a nummie over the Thanksgiving holiday.
At least the little boys out there will appreciate this one!!!
COLD SEASON
~ Bread ~ Cheese ~ Marshmallows ~ Hershey Kisses ~
~ Honey Bun ~ Ritz Crackers ~ Food Coloring ~
Tear the crust off of a piece of bread.  Make a nose shape out of the bread and using peanut butter or somthing sticky, “glue” it to a plate.  Use a few drops of green food coloring in some miniature marshmallows to create the snot. Stuff the colored marshmallows into the nose. Use crackers for the base of the eyes with marshmallows and hershey kisses to complete them.  Shredded cheese for the hair and a honey bun for the ears.  Use the crust to create a mouth with halved marshmallows for teeth.
Can someone hand him a kleenex please?!?
{ Thanks Dusty for your creativity!! }
Fun Kids Lunch: Lion Sandwich
…the Lion Sleeps Tonight.
~~~~

Lion Nummie

  • I cut the sandwich roughly in half horizontally (separating the top from the bottom of the bread) and used a small cup to cut out the half-circle for the body.
  • I used the half-circle cutout for the head (turned upside down) and then cut part of the top part of the bread into ears.
  • I used cut up raisins for the facial features, and grated carrot for the mane and tail tuft.

    It’s kind of hard to describe how I cut up the bread, and although I’m sure you can figure it out, I drew a little diagram anyway.

Isn’t he just the cutest?!?

THANKS FOR THE LITTLE NUMMIE, HEATHER!!!  Keep them coming!!!
