Wintry Kids Lunch: “Hot Cocoa” Sandwich

Oh, the joys of hot cocoa in the winter — the steaming cup of chocolatey goodness, especially with little marshmallows! In keeping with the season, I made this super simple “hot cocoa” sandwich. I originally made it without the Fruit Roll-Ups as decoration, but when I showed it to my nephews, they said: “Ooooo, decorate the cup!”  So I did, but it’s completely optional. Decorate it as silly as you want, or leave it plain.

Goofy Kids Breakfast: Snow Tubing Banana

Snow. I wish it would here in the Carolinas! There are so many fun activities to do in the snow, from snowball fights to catching snowflakes on your tongue, and if you’re lucky, you’ll have enough snow for snow tubing! I loved tubing when I was younger. Bringing a bit of winter fun to the breakfast table sparked some conversations about my childhood memories. I wish we lived in a colder climate so my children could experience the thrills of a winter wonderland. Maybe we will one day, but until then, we’ll have to live vicariously through our little banana friend.

Cute Kids Dinner Recipe: Chili Penguin

The temperature has really dropped here in the Carolinas. And thank goodness — I was starting to worry that winter was never going to arrive! With colder weather comes warm-you-up comfort food like soups and chili, which, to my joy, our family loves. I don’t know about your family, but we enjoy our piping hot chili with all the goodness of corn chips and cheese. Yum! Since we eat chili often this time of year, I decided to come up with a fun little penguin to greet my kids when they came to the dinner table.

Holiday Kids Snack: S’more Elf Hat

Now that it’s getting colder, my girls are all about s’mores and hot cocoa. So I came up with this festive kids snack as a way for them to have both without the sticky mess of roasting marshmallows (not to mention the dangers of everyone crowding around an open fire!) For the sheer delight of your little ones — and big ones — serve the elf hat croissants warm with a mug of hot cocoa. My hubby ate quite a few of these, too!

Fun Kids Lunch: Snowman Sandwich

Yippee! Winter’s almost here, and this snowman will bring some excitement to your kids lunch. I love snow—donning mittens, building a snowman, then coming inside for hot cocoa and a snack. We don’t have snow here in the south yet, so for now, my kids and I are contenting ourselves with this yummy snowman sandwich.

Snowman Nummies: Polar Bear & Penguin

Here in the south, we usually don’t see a lot of snow.
But we have had a few snow storms already this winter!!
{If this is global warming, I don’t want it to cool down anytime soon!!}

It’s actually snowing as I’m writing this post…

Just wanted to share with you the snow creations I’ve made so far…

Snowlar Bear

Surprisingly, no one stole the coke.
And it was super cold and delicious once the bear started melting!!!

~~~
SNOW PENGUIN
Yes, those are sand rakes for his feet and a sand shovel handle for his beak.
~~~

I guess they are edible-ish.
Well, the polar bear is…the penguin is covered in black spray paint.

STAY WARM OUT THERE!!!
{you know, if it’s cold where you are.}

FEATURE FRIDAY: Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes

Marie over at Make and Takes comes up with the cutest things.
She has been featured here several times, and for good reason!!

Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes

~ Candy Canes ~ Chocolate ~ Hot Chocolate Mix ~

Melt some of your favorite chocolate. I used milk chocolate chips and melted them in the microwave for 1 minute at a time. Then dip the candy canes into the chocolate. I dipped them on both sides because I didn’t know which way people may like it, but I like the tops dipped and then use the stick to stir. Lay them on wax paper to cool.

Now dip them into your favorite Hot Chocolate Drink and ENJOY!!!

MMmmmmmmm.
Doesn’t that look DELISH?

{ Thank you Marie for your wonderful sweetness!! }
