FEATURE FRIDAY: FROSTY

The Sugar Fairy has done it again with this super cute snowman!!

Frosty the Adorable Snowman!!

Coconut Truffle
360g white eating chocolate, chopped coarsley
1/3 cup (80ml) cream
1/2 tsp coconut essence (or there abouts. Whatever suits your tastebuds)
1 cup (80g) desiccated coconut
saltanas (or dried cranberries)
orange sugarpaste (or pistachios)
mini m&m’s
1. Stir chocolate, cream and essence in small saucepan over low heat until smooth. Transfer mixture to small bowl; refrigerate about 2 hour.

2. Roll two level teaspoons of mixture into balls to make six small balls, roll three level teaspoons of mixture into balls to make six medium balls, roll level tablespoons of mixture into balls to make six large balls (you will have 18 truffles); place on tray. Refrigerate until truffles are firm.
3. Roll truffles in coconut; assemble six snowmen using three of the different-sized truffles for each, using toothpicks to secure them through the centre if needed. Decorate snowmen with cut up saltanas for eyes, sugarpaste/pistachio for nose and mini m&m’s for buttons. Use scraps of fabric, tinsel, pipecleaner or ribbon to make scarf.
Just Remembered: I stuck on the eyes, nose and buttons using glucose syrup.

Kids Christmas Lunch: Elf Sandwich

“Smiling’s my favorite!!”

~~~~
ELF
~ Bread ~ Boiled Egg ~ Olive ~ Apple ~ Hot Dog ~
~ Lunch Meat ~ Marshmallows ~
Cut a triangle out of a piece of bread.
As shown:
Use a boiled egg and a halved olive for his eyes.  I cut some ham lunch meat into strips for the hair.  Spread some butter or whatever onto the ears to give them a neutral color. A chunk of a hot dog for his nose, but you can use what you want.  I used two small apple wedges for his mouth.  Miniature marshmallows added to the bottom and the top of the hat for fuzzy texture.
{ Elf is one of my fave movies.  If you haven’t seen it, get it. }
Funny Kid Food: Cold Season
My brother-in-law decided to make a nummie over the Thanksgiving holiday.
At least the little boys out there will appreciate this one!!!
COLD SEASON
~ Bread ~ Cheese ~ Marshmallows ~ Hershey Kisses ~
~ Honey Bun ~ Ritz Crackers ~ Food Coloring ~
Tear the crust off of a piece of bread.  Make a nose shape out of the bread and using peanut butter or somthing sticky, “glue” it to a plate.  Use a few drops of green food coloring in some miniature marshmallows to create the snot. Stuff the colored marshmallows into the nose. Use crackers for the base of the eyes with marshmallows and hershey kisses to complete them.  Shredded cheese for the hair and a honey bun for the ears.  Use the crust to create a mouth with halved marshmallows for teeth.
Can someone hand him a kleenex please?!?
{ Thanks Dusty for your creativity!! }
Kids Winter Lunch: Ice Skate Sandwich
I remember ice-skating all through the winter when I was little.
I LOVED it.
So in honor of childhood memories, here’s an ice-skate sandwich you and your kids can make.
You can let them decorate their own skates too!!
~~~~

Ice-Skate

~ Sandwich ~ Banana ~ Pretzel Sticks ~ Cheerios ~ Raisins ~

Cut the top right corner off of any sandwich.  Use cereal, raisins, or whatever you want to decorate your skate. Use two pretzel sticks to hold the sliced banana (blade) in place.

Now you are ready to twirl and whirl.

Put on some socks and “skate” around the kitchen.

Kids Winter Craft: Tortilla Snowflakes

The Holidays are here and it should be snowing outside.

Whether it’s snowing where you are or not, you can let your kidos make these simple snowflakes.

~~~~
Tortilla Snowflakes
~ Tortillas ~ Cinnamon ~ Sugar ~
Warm up a tortilla and fold in half and in half again.  Using clean scissors, cut shapes out to create your snowflake.  I used cooking spray then sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on them.  You can also use edible glitter to make them really pretty.  Put them on a cooking sheet and place them in the oven until golden brown.
At least these flurries are warm!!
Winter Kids Lunch: Beanie Sandwich
Beanie…Toboggan…Hat…whatever you call it, it will keep your head warm!
{Well, not this one, this one will keep your belly warm!!}
~~~~

Beanie

~ Sandwich ~ Crackers ~ String Cheese ~ Marshmallows ~

Cut a sandwich into a triangle of sorts to make the hat shape.  Spread peanut butter or anything sticky on top of the sandwich and then put crushed goldfish or any other cracker on top.  I used string cheese for the stripes.  Cut marshmallows (almost) in half and place them on the bottom of the sandwich and one for the top.

So cozy to have a nice fluffy hat on when it’s cold outside!!
{ So would this make your tummy warm? }

Kids Lunch: Penguin Sandwich

Waddle. Waddle.

It’s winter and the cute and cuddly penguins come to mind.
I think they are fascinating as well as adorable.
Your kids will think the same of this sweet penguin sandwich!!

~~~~
Winter Penguin
~ Bread ~ Apple Butter ~ Marshmallows ~ Choc Chips ~ Crackers ~
Cut a penguin shape out of a piece of bread and spread apple butter, or anything dark on him. Using a vitamin bottle, cut a small hole out of the penguin to make room for the marshmallow tummy. I used small marshmallows and mini choc chips for the eyes. I cut the hat out of the cut out piece from the tummy.  Apply it to a piece of marshmallow with peanut butter and half of a mini marshmallow for the top.  Goldfish crackers for the nose and feet.  Sliced marshmallow for the snow.
Isn’t he just adorable?
