“L” is for Limpet

A Limpet is a mollusk that is a relative of the snail.
His shell is like a pointy hat.

{ Slimy yet satisfying…wait, that’s Lion King…nevermind! }

LIMPET NUMMIE

Take all but a third of a banana and mash it.  Place the mashed banana in a circle on a plate. Take the English Muffin and place it on top of the banana. Put some sliced banana on top of the muffin to create the curve of the shell. Spread Peanut Butter on it, then use small amounts of Jam to create the different colors/stripes on the shell. Use the rest of the banana for the two sensors in front.

 

INTERESTING FACTS

1.  The limpet is an invertebrate (animal without a backbone).

2.  Limpets have one big foot and a really strong suction cup to help it get around.

3.  Limpets don’t have any eyes and they use chemical sensors called Chemoreceptors.

4.  They look for food mainly at night and then they follow their mucus trail to find their way back to their home.

5.  They can live in the same spot their whole lives.
